After the ride, we had dinner, watched the fireworks show, then sadly left Mickey and friends. It was a full evening. We came back to the hotel close to midnight!
Sunday, Gabrielle and I headed back to Arcadia and met our friend, Patty. It was a day of good eats and shopping.
Monday morning, we packed up and made our way to Santa Monica. We stayed right across the street from the popular Santa Monica pier. We took advantage of the location and warm weather and walked up 3rd Street Promenade, where you'll find great shops and boutiques, then turned the corner and headed a few blocks west, and walked down Ocean Blvd.

On our walk, we found a grassy spot to hang out. Gabrielle's never felt grass before, so she seemed fascinated by the color and texture.

We ended our walk at the Santa Monica Pier, but before we decided to turn in, we walked down the pier to take in a little more sunshine and ocean breeze. Along the pier are a bunch of little vendors, one of which was a cool street-side artist. We couldn't resist getting something done for Gabrielle, so we had her name done. When you come to visit, you'll see the finished product hanging in her room :).

The next day - Tuesday - was our last day. Our flight back to Chicago was at around 1:00 p.m. so we had brunch at one of our favorite breakfast places, Good Stuff, decorated with the quintessential Southern California culture of beach volleyball and surfing. Gabrielle was much more interested in what they had to offer on the menu than what mommy had to offer in her cooler (boring baby oatmeal).

Hope you enjoyed reading about our trip to Southern California -it was fun re-living it with you all!
Love,
Em, Roy and Gabrielle
